This is the 6th year YAF has coorganised with Standard Chartered Hong Kong for a large-scale fundraising and visual arts project. This year, 9,000 students from 75 schools are actively involved in this project.

Inspired by the Chinese traditional embroidered happiness/lucky charms, YAF has created an exciting craft project! The participants will learn the skills of collage and sewing to create a hanging handicraft, using a variety of materials like felt, string, beads & sequences. All the art pieces will have a standard eye shape in the middle, symbolising “Seeing is Believing”. The completed artworks will be collected and sewn together in groups of 8-10 to culminate in an epic hanging art installation which will represent the strength of collaboration as well as showcase the creativity of young people in Hong Kong.

For being part of this exciting arts project, each participating student donates HK$10 or above to Seeing is Believing to help the visually impaired. In turn, Standard Chartered Hong Kong will match all donations dollar for dollar to Seeing Is Believing in celebration of her 150th anniversary. Fund raised for Seeing is Believing in Hong Kong will be donated to ORBIS for their projects in China.

If you would like to view the 9000 colourful pieces of fabric art, please visit our exhibition at Cityplaza from 3 to 14 June. Visitors are welcome to make an on-site donation and create their own art pieces.

Seeing is Believing is Standard Chartered’s global fund raising initiative, aiming to raise US$20 million to help 20 million people in 20 countries by 2013 focusing on eye care education, prevention and sign restoration.
